When Aylin realized there were improvements that could be made to resilience and environmental policy in the City of New Orleans, she recommended the creation of Environmental Advisory Committee to develop actionable policy recommendation. After several years of work, the first set of recommendations are moving forward.  The City can look forward to an expanded electric vehicle infrastructure, a green fleet manager, which will save costs on maintenance and gas and a goal of zero waste and more.  These policies put New Orleans on the forefront of modern cities, which will save money, reduce climate impacts, and attract business and residents.

As a law clerk in Civil District Court, Aylin was proud to contribute to the landmark Agriculture Street Landfill decision that held the City, Housing Authority, Orleans Parish School Board accountable for shocking and outrageous actions in developing a school and housing on top of a Superfund site.   Read the opinion below.   See also coverage in the media.  Aylin is committed to make sure these same things do not happen again which is why she fought to amend the Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance to require
to developers to disclose whether a proposed site for a primary, secondary or vocational school has previously been used for the disposal of hazardous waste.  Aylin will continue to champion this type of legislation to minimize the impact of environmental contamination.

Aylin was a member of the Environmental Law Clinic and Legislative Advocacy Clinic at Tulane Law School.
